GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Grand Rapids Lantern Competition at John Ball Zoo is promoted as a “breathtaking knowledge for all ages,” featuring handcrafted Asian lantern shows that illuminate the zoo.
The pageant, showcasing 55 lantern installations that span a 1-mile route as a result of the zoo, is the 1st of its type in Michigan. The new encounter opened to the general public on Wednesday, April 19. tonight at 7 p.m.

MLive was there to seize movie and photos of the huge lantern sculptures ranging from a dragon to a big butterfly-crammed tree as portion of a media preview. Some of the sculptures are interactive, with blowing bubbles and blinking eyeballs.
